«Legends of Carpets» by Walter Knoll

The unique «Legends of Carpets» collection by Walter Knoll is inspired by the archaic beauty of Africa. From vast steppes, the endless expanse and colours that only this primal force of nature can bring to light. Photographs were used to create abstract images that can now be admired as works of art in carpet form in our Zurich and Erlenbach showrooms.

JIONI Legends of Carpets

The JIONI carpet interprets the evening atmosphere of the African steppe.

Handmade from high-quality wool, it is the basic material of Walter Knoll carpets. Each carpet is unique and convinces with the noble and at the same time durable material. Brought down from the high mountains to the valley by the shepherds, the sheep's wool is washed in the river, then carded and spun by hand. The fibres of the wool appear long and elastic, while the high fat content naturally protects the carpets from dirt.

The wool carpets are complemented by fine designs in silk, which pays homage to the beauty of Africa's natural treasures. With their beautiful shimmer and supple-soft feel, these fascinating precious objects are reminiscent of the minerals and precious stones of Africa, such as rose quartz or agate.

As natural as cotton, as shiny as silk: this is the effect of the yarn spun from stinging nettle and it is a special natural product that combines naturalness and individuality.

The «Legends of Carpets» collection includes 24 different designs with and without patterns made of wool, nettle and silk as well as 7 pure silk carpets. There are almost no limits to your wishes, there are designs in round, oval, organic, runner or square. Special formats are also available – ask our staff, they will be happy to assist you.
