Glass, chrome & 70s vibe – the trends from the Salone

The Salone del Mobile in Milan is the most important event for furniture and interior design and an international showcase for the who's who of the industry. Our Creative Director, Federico Avella, has taken the pulse of the hustle and bustle and tells us what new products, trends and ideas have inspired him – and what our customers can look forward to in autumn.

When the crème de la crème of interior, design and furniture connoisseurs arrive in the Italian metropolis in April to examine the latest throws of the furniture manufacturers, the whole of Milan is upside down: installations, parties, showrooms, galleries, lectures, panel discussions and, of course, the most important trade fair of the industry, the Salone del Mobile, offer the expert audience from all over the world important industry news, the home trends of the year and entertainment of all kinds. For visitors, it is important to be inspired by the hustle and bustle, to join in and to take in as much as possible. Our Creative Director also returned from Milan with a full bag of ideas.

That was a few weeks ago. It takes time to let everything set, to work out the essence and to let the new ideas mature. And to plan the furnishing of our showrooms and shop windows according to our own interpretation of these very themes. A compilation of the trends and tendencies that Federico Avella, after his creative pause for thought, considers to be style-defining for Zingg-Lamprecht - and which you can look forward to:

Late Seventies-Vibes

The 70ies trend is advancing within the decade, turning its back on the neutral tones of previous years and showing a shift towards maximalism with striking patterns and colours such as tobacco, cognac, okra and yellow. The trend material in textiles: velvet.

Late Seventies-Vibes

Ochre and maxi corduroy like here at Tacchini is reminiscent of the late 70s.

Late Seventies-Vibes

Here, too: The shapes and colours are reminiscent of the past decade.

Velvet – here in a cognac finish – is considered a trendy material.

Chromology

Having disappeared from the stage of modern furniture design for some time, chrome is making a comeback in a wide variety of designs. From large-scale styles reminiscent of the 80s and 90s to filigree details – the metal shows itself to be changeable and wants to be seen.

Chromologie

This complete look is less suitable for your own home, but definitely catches everyone's eye.

Chromologie

Chrome is also becoming important again discreetly as well as for details and accessories.

Artwork

High-quality details made of wicker attract attention not only at B&B Italia or Poltrona Frau. In addition to aesthetic style, the manufacturers demonstrate one thing above all: craftsmanship and creativity.

Artwork

oven backrests are currently indispensable in outdoor collections.

Artwork

Leather, as at Poltrona Frau, is also suitable for creating perforated works of art.

Artwork

It is not always necessary to weave narrow cords or leather strips...

Cuddle factor

Bouclé has been at the forefront for some years now and is currently an integral part of interior design. Softer versions with long loops as well as lambskin and high-quality lambskin imitations have recently joined the fray.

Cuddle factor

Bouclé with long loops makes for a somewhat diverse overall look.

Cuddle factor

Lambskin and vegan fur styles are the cosy counterpart to hip chrome.

Cuddle factor

With Minotti, the bouclé takes on a retro character thanks to the topstitching.

Crystal clear

From colourful home accessories to extraordinary lamps or the sideboard made of glass: the production of these unique and varied creations shows a lot of tact and craftsmanship.

Crystal clear

Depending on the finish, glass looks either modern...

Crystal clear

... artful with a touch of retro vibe ...

... or minimalist.

Set in stone

They are like works of art from nature: natural stones with unique patterns promise exclusivity and could be admired at the Salone in a wide variety of designs. Whether as a tabletop or in combination with other materials – marble and co. remain a timeless eye-catcher.

Natursteine

From unique installations to durable tabletops, marble remains a classic.

Natursteine

Travertine, from accessory to stone floor, shows itself changeable and is used very differently.

Outdoor

The importance of living outdoors is becoming even more important. The outdoor collections are more numerous than ever and convince with quality and material innovation.

Outdoor

Our favourite for the outdoor area: natural tones in combination with wood.

Outdoor

Large lounges that invite you to linger belong in all outdoor collections.

Outdoor

Tone in tone, as here with Roda, results in exciting elements for outdoor living.

Living consciously

Resource-saving production, material innovations from recycled raw materials such as wood, glass or even cork are becoming increasingly important. Just like textiles made from organic materials such as linen or hemp and or energy-efficient lighting.
